Understanding Our Levels
Every stylist at Little Shop of Hairdos is part of a team built on mentorship, so you’ll always have more than one set of expert eyes on your hair. Our levels simply help you find the stylist who fits your service, your timeline, and your budget.
Our apprentices are training through Atarashii, a licensed apprenticeship program that replaces traditional beauty school with hands-on learning in a working salon. Each apprentice is at a different stage depending on how far along they are in the program, which typically runs about two years and ends with state licensure. Every apprentice works under the guidance of our senior stylists. Curious where a particular apprentice is in their journey? Just ask. We’re happy to share.
Level 1 stylists are licensed and continuing their in-salon training, typically with up to three years of experience. They bring fresh energy and current technique, and they’re learning what it takes to thrive as part of a collaborative salon team. You may see them consulting a colleague during your service. That’s part of how we work, and it means you benefit from a second opinion.
Level 2 stylists have several years behind the chair and a wide range of experience. They’re comfortable with most of what walks through the door, and they’re refining skills like timing and formulation, often in partnership with their team. They know their craft well enough to know when to bring in extra expertise.
Level 3 stylists are seasoned, confident professionals who can take on virtually any service. They manage their time with ease, collaborate with colleagues, and mentor our newer stylists as part of their day-to-day.
Our Level 4 stylists are the educators and leaders of the salon. They train our apprentices and Level 1 stylists, shape our standards, and help guide the business. They carry the highest level of expertise on our team.
